Michael pleads healthcare case of refugees
NDP Leader and Health Critic Lorraine Michael (MHA, Signal Hill-Quidi Vidi) raised the plight of refugees in the House of Assembly today. The federal government recently announced plans to end medical care at the end of this month for refugees who have sought a safe haven in Canada.
“Refugees arrive here having experienced deprivation and injury and need medical services to regain their health to start a new life,” Michael said in the House today.
“Mr. Speaker, I ask the Minister, is she taking any real action to oppose this move by the Harper government to download yet another federal responsibility onto the province?”
