Michael looking for specifics on Corner Brook hospital study
NDP Leader Lorraine Michael (MHA, Signal Hill-Quidi Vidi) wants the premier to answer some straightforward questions about the possible addition of radiation treatment to the services offered by the Corner Brook hospital.
“The Premier has been giving conflicting answers about who exactly will be doing the research for the $500,000 study announced in the budget on radiation services in Western Newfoundland,” Michael said in the House of Assembly today.
“Can the Premier please clarify who exactly is doing the research and what the timeline is for the entire process?
“Is this research being done by external consultants or government officials only?”
She is also concerned about the implementation of radiation services, should they be deemed to be necessary, given the long time people have been waiting for the Corner Brook hospital’s construction.
“If it is determined that radiation services should be offered in Corner Brook, will this be started in the existing hospital, or will people have to wait years for these services in the new hospital?” she asked.
“Is the premier saying people will have to wait up to six years for these services?”
