Rogers continues push for whistleblower legislation
NDP MHA Gerry Rogers (St. John’s Centre) asked the minister of justice today if the people of the province will have to wait for another scandal before they see the long-promised whistleblower legislation.
Rogers stated in the House of Assembly, “Yesterday the minister of justice claimed that we have all the whistleblower protections we need. Yet there are still public sector employees who will only talk to us on the grounds of complete anonymity over fear of losing their job due to the lack of whistleblower legislation.
“Mr. Speaker, I ask the Premier, do we really have to wait for another scandal to take place before her government fulfills the promise it made five years ago to the people of this province?” asked Rogers.
