Rogers looks to improve Bill 29

NDP Justice Critic Gerry Rogers (MHA, St. John’s Centre) stood during Question Period in the House of Assembly today to ask the minister of justice to add a provision to Bill 29.

Rogers stated that Section 22 of Bill 29 allows the commissioner to investigate and attempt to resolve a person’s complaint of a government breach of their privacy.

“There is no provision in the bill for the commissioner to investigate a whistleblower’s complaint to the commissioner,” said Rogers.

“Will the minister of justice amend the bill to ensure the commissioner has this power?” asked Rogers
