NDP Health Critic Lorraine Michael (MHA, Signal Hill-Quidi Vidi) is not convinced that adding the extra job of collecting blood samples to the already-heavy workload of emergency room nurses will do anything to reduce wait times, as the minister indicated yesterday in the House of Assembly. Michael returned to the topic today during Question Period.

New Canadian Forces helicopters from Sikorsky, the same manufacturer of the helicopter that crashed off St. John’s in 2009, are required to have a thirty-minute run dry capability.

NDP Leader Lorraine Michael (MHA, Signal Hill-Quidi Vidi) continues to press for answers on the province’s hospital emergency rooms. Michael says she continues to hear from patients, physicians and hospital employees about situations that appear to be getting more serious rather than improving.

Yesterday the Minister of Health and Community Services said her department is looking at increasing the hours of physicians and other health professionals in ER departments during peak times.
