NDP Environment and Conservation Critic George Murphy (MHA, St. John’s East) wants to know what, if anything, government plans to do to help the Town of Torbay with a newly-discovered water supply problem. Torbay is one of the fastest-growing communities in the province, and will very soon need a new water supply to accommodate new homes.

Environment and Conservation has a proposal from a company in Mount Pearl that deals with the storage of some radioactive material. The deadline for public comments is set for April 17. The project raises very many questions.

NDP Environment and Conservation Critic George Murphy (MHA, St. John’s East) says that in response to numerous requests, he has launched a petition urging government to think long and hard before permitting any fracking activity to take place in the province.

 

NL NDP Environment and Conservation Critic George Murphy, MHA for St. John's East, is circulating a petition calling on the House of Assembly to impose a moratorium on the use of slickwater fracking as a method of oil and gas extraction.

Interested members of the public are invited to contact George's office, and are welcome to circulate the petition and collect signatures.
