NDP Health Critic Gerry Rogers

Two NDP MHAs say government must act now to fix the provincial ambulance program before the situation in rural communities gets any worse. Health Critic Gerry Rogers (MHA, St. John’s Centre) and Service NL Critic George Murphy (MHA, St. John’s East) say recent cases have highlighted the urgency.

 

NDP Health Critic Gerry Rogers (MHA St. John’s Centre) says government has used Bill 29 to block her ability to access the internal assessment of the Family Violence Intervention Court (FVIC) which government commissioned in 2012.

 

NDP Health and Community Services Critic Gerry Rogers (MHA St. John’s Centre) is calling on Minister Sullivan to explain to the people of the province why government has been moving so slowly on the implementation of a much needed provincial electronic medical record system.

 

Gerry Rogers (MHA, St. John’s Centre) called the new funding announced yesterday for home support agencies and personal care homes a stop-gap measure to avert a crisis.
“Government just narrowly missed a crisis this spring in home care and long-term care,” said Rogers. “They had to do something.”

NDP Health Critic Gerry Rogers (MHA, St. John’s Centre) says if government insists on keeping its core mandate reviews secret, the people of the province will never know how and why thousands of jobs are being lost. Rogers initially requested the core mandate review for the Department of Health and Community Services a month ago, and has since filed an access to information request.

Christopher Mitchelmore, NDP MHA for The Straits-White Bay North, says there is still no ECG service at the St. Anthony Hospital, despite the fact that both the necessary equipment and the staff needed to operate it are in place at the facility. He also says he is having trouble getting the CEO of Labrador-Grenfell health to discuss the matter with him.
