Minimum wage

NDP Leader Lorraine Michael (MHA, Signal Hill-Quidi Vidi) wants to know when government plans to act on the minimum wage recommendations released in December of last year.

The committee recommended increasing the minimum wage in 2013 to reflect the loss of purchasing power since the last increase in 2010.The Minimum Wage Advisory Committee held public consultations throughout 2012.

 

NDP Labour Critic Dale Kirby (MHA, St. John’s North) has made his submission on behalf of his caucus to the panel reviewing the province’s minimum wage. He did not use the anonymous on-line poll to do so.

 

NDP Labour Critic Dale Kirby (MHA, St. John’s North) is heartened by the number of responses government says it has received during the current review of the minimum wage. However, he says the lack of transparency around the process is hindering public awareness of the issue.

 

NDP Labour Critic Dale Kirby (MHA, St. John’s North) says the provincial government seems to be doing its best to have the least possible public input into the province’s minimum wage.
