Private Member's Motion

This week the NDP Caucus will present a Private Member’s Motion urging government to immediately strike an All-Party Select Committee on rate mitigation and the future of Muskrat Falls.

NDP House Leader Lorraine Michael (MHA, St. John’s East-Quidi Vidi) tabled the motion in the House of Assembly today. St. John’s Centre MHA Gerry Rogers seconded the motion.

The NDP Caucus is looking for support from other members of the House of Assembly for a Private Member’s Motion urging government to create an all-party Select Committee on Jobs to address the growing unemployment crisis in Newfoundland and Labrador.

NDP Parliamentary Leader Lorraine Michael (MHA, Signal Hill-Quidi Vidi) says it was heartening to see all parties in the House of Assembly rally around her private member’s motion in support of rural Newfoundland and Labrador today.

Christopher Mitchelmore, the NDP MHA for The Straits-White Bay North, says the province needs a new Safe Drinking Water Strategy, and he has introduced a private member’s motion into the House of Assembly that says just that.

Wednesday is Private Member’s Day in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly; Mitchelmore’s motion will be debated tomorrow.
