Education and Early Childhood Development Critic Lorraine Michael is concerned about an amendment to the Schools Act that may disadvantage the inclusion of children with disabilities.

 

Leader Gerry Rogers (MHA, St. John’s Centre) asked questions in the House of Assembly on issues facing LGBTQ2S youth on the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.

Rogers says in our province, rates of suicide, dropping out of school, and homelessness are highest among LGBTQ2S youth.

NDP Education Critic Lorraine Michael (MHA, St. John’s East-Quidi Vidi) says that while it’s heartbreaking to hear about repeated problems with the current classroom inclusion program, she hopes recent media stories will combine with presentations to the Premier’s Task Force on Education Outcomes to force government to pay attention and deal with the problem.
